A man in Sweetwater is bitten by a copperhead at his house.

It happened over the weekend and it’s not the first Copperhead bite we’ve heard about so far this year. Earlier this month, a Morgan County family said their 3-year-old daughter was in recovery after also being bitten by a copperhead snake twice on her foot.

The Sweetwater man, Jeffery Wilkins, says he had mowed his grass earlier in the day and was walking in his yard when the snake bit him. He received treatment and is still recovering.
The 3 year-old Morgan County girl was also in recently cut grass when bitten.

In East Tennessee, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agent officials say people should only have to worry about two types of venomous snakes: copperheads and timber rattlesnakes.

For more information on Timberhead Rattlesnakes, please go to: https://www.tn.gov/twra/wildlife/reptiles/snakes/timber-rattlesnake.html#:~:text=The%20Timber%20Rattlesnake%20is%20is,the%20end%20of%20the%20tail..

If bitten, officials say to immediately go straight to the hospital and if possible get a picture of the snake but do not to attempt to capture it.
