The investigation into the origin and cause of the fire on Lenland Avenue that claimed the life of two children has been completed by the Knoxville Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit.

The fire’s origin was determined to be in a void between the basement ceiling and the home’s upper floor. This void space above the rear storage room was examined and several potential ignition sources were discovered. These items were all components of the home’s electrical system and all suffered severe damage preventing a conclusive cause from being determined.

Therefore, foul play is not believed to be a factor in this incident.
