Knoxville Police Warning of Scammer Calls

Knoxville Police warning of scam calls.

Police say a scammer has been calling citizens at random posing as a KPD officer claiming there is a warrant out for their arrest.

The scammer then demands compensation in the form of money or, in at least one case, lottery tickets.

KPD says the reported calls are coming from a 214 number. They remind citizens that KPD officers will never call to ask for money under any circumstances. Instead, they suggest those who receive such a call hang up and contact law enforcement.
