Students at Two Knox County Schools are Back in-person Learning Following Shooting Deaths of Austin East Students

Austin-East High School and Vine Middle School students back to in-person learning today (Monday) following the fatal shootings of three students.

School officials say students’ safety and support are their top priority. The Knoxville Police Department is increasing patrols at both schools especially before and after school.

Knox County Mayor Indya Kincannon says Project GRAD has asked men in the community to help escort students to school. They escorted numerous students to school safely on this (Monday) morning.

The school will also have grief counselors available to students on Monday in-person and virtually.
