KPD Investigating a Near Fatal Shooting and Shots Fired into a Knox County School Bus

The Knoxville Police Department investigating a near fatal shooting.

Police say a woman was shot (Wednesday) afternoon on North Central Street near Atlantic Avenue.

Officers responded to the area around 2:45 p.m. and found a crashed vehicle with an unresponsive woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound. She was transported to UT Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries. A man inside the vehicle was not injured during the shooting.

Police say a Knox County school bus was also struck at least once. Three people were on board at the time, none were hit or injured.

There are no suspects as of Wednesday evening.
