ICU Beds Almost to Capacity in our Region and All Five Benchmarks by Knox County Health Department are Red

All 5 benchmarks concerning COVID-19 in Knox County are Red.

ICU beds are nearing capacity.  This is the first time the health care capability benchmark has been in the red, and the first time all metrics tracked by the county are red at the same time since the Knox County Health Department began tracking them.

According to weekly regional metrics from KCHD, ICU capacity across all 16 East Tennessee counties is sitting just above 97% and there are only 8 ICU beds open in the entire region out of the 284 available.

Seven new deaths were reported today (Wednesday) which brings the total number in Knox County to 179.

Health department officials urge following the five core actions and getting tested if you believe you have symptoms or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.
