UT Athletics Director Phillip Fulmer Tests Positive for COVID-19

Tennessee Athletics Director Phillip Fulmer has announced he’s tested positive for COVID-19.

Fulmer says the positive results came back Thursday and he immediately began following isolation protocols. He took a second test which confirmed the diagnosis.

In his statement Friday morning, Fulmer says he is asymptomatic and feeling fine. He’s working from home remotely and adhering to CDC and local health guidelines.

Fulmer says he has not been in close contact with any student-athletes or sports-specific staff members.

UT Chancellor Donde Plowman announced Thursday she was headed to quarantine after coming into contact with someone who tested positive. Officials have not said if Fulmer was the case she was exposed to.

The Chancellor has no symptoms and went immediately for a COVID test. The results came back Friday as negative. Regardless, Plowman says she will be quarantining at home for the full 14 days.
