Missing Knox County Hiker Lost in the Smokies is Found

The Knox County hiker missing in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is found.

56 year-old Fred Braden, Jr. of Powell was found around 4 o’clock today by Search and Rescue team members. Braden did not sustain any major injuries during his overnight experience in the backcountry and rangers are currently assisting him to the trailhead for further assessment. Braden was reported missing Tuesday evening.

Over 30 people assisted in the response. Responders searched over 20 acres of off-trail areas today (Wednesday) along with 30 miles of park trails.

No information is available regarding the circumstances that led to Braden being lost.
