Body Recovered After Fatal Boating Accident on Norris Lake

Officials are investigating after a fatal boating accident on Norris Lake. The TWRA was called to the Big Creek area for an explosion and fire around 11:00 p.m. Saturday. The victim has not been identified, but is said to be a 51-year-old man from Norris Tennessee.

A boat crashed into the shoreline and became fully engulfed in flames. Members of the Campbell County Rural Fire Service extinguished the fire, however the vessel was a total loss and there was no sign of the occupant.

Investigators believed the man was ejected from the vessel. The search began immediately. Crews recovered the victim’s body Sunday around 5 p.m. using an underwater Remote Operated Vehicle. Officials say the body was recovered from a water depth of about 60 feet and was located several hundred yards away from the area where his boat was found crashed into the lakeshore.
