Knox County Board of Health Eases Bar Closure Order

Knox County Board of Health meeting held via Zoom.

The Knox County Board of Health is easing a mandate that forced bars to close due to COVID-19 concerns. Bars can now reopen but must close each night by 10 o’clock. The change came at last night’s Board of Health meeting and just one week after the mandate for bars to close was passed.

Members discussed putting the 10 p.m. curfew in effect for restaurants as well. But Board member, Dr Patrick O’brien, says the “bar only” curfew is best for now and other board members agreed with him.

The board will continue to monitor the situation going forward and says it will make changes as needed.

The Board of Health defines a bar as a business receiving the majority of its revenue from alcohol sales.
