COVID-19 Numbers Still Rising in Knox County Region but Curve is Beginning to Flatten

Dr. Keith Gray, chief medical officer at UT Medical Center, is working with the Knox County Health Department on tracking COVID-19 cases. He says the Knox County region consists of 11 counties and numbers are seeing a steady increase but numbers are improving.

He says we’re seeing over one hundred new cases each day in Knox County and over 300 cases a day regionally.  He says the curves are beginning to flatten and the death rate for the Knox County region is lower than the state average.

Knox County Health Department officials say our COVID-19 Benchmark is at yellow for Knox County. This means we are moving toward our complete reopening process but requires caution.
