Man Takes Plea Deal and Pleads Guilty When Officers Found a Human Torso Inside His Vehicle

A plea deal for the man arrested with a human torso found in his vehicle.

Our TV News Partner WVLT says Dorrae Johnson pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and DUI 2nd offense today (Wednesday). The judge sentenced Johnson to 11 months and 29 days for the DUI offense and 10 years in a Tennessee Department of Corrections facility for the vehicular homicide charge.

Johnson was arrested in June 2019 after leading officers on a chase on I-40 and Sutherland Avenue. According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol he hit and killed a pedestrian while on Sutherland Avenue. The upper torso of the victim’s body was found inside his car. The previous court date was reset while a judge waited for Johnson’s mental health evaluation to come back.
