Planned Burn in Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountains

Great Smoky Mountain Park officials are giving you a headsup, if you see some smoke coming from the Cades Cove area don’t be alarmed. A prescribed burn is planned for the western end of the cove Wednesday through Friday the 15th.  Officials say they’re burning over 600 acres. The planned burns help reduce the fuel for wildfires in the park. You’ll see fire crews and equipment along Hyatt Lane and the west end of Cades Cove Loop Road.
