Teen Convicted in Zach Munday’s Death is Released from Jail Early

The teen serving a 30 day jail sentence in connection to the death of a Gibbs High School student is out of jail early.

According to the dictrict attorney’s office, 18 year-old Chelsea Hopson was released from the Knox County Detention Center Saturday morning.

Earlier this month, a judge denied Hopson’s request to serve her sentence on house arrest because she was going to lose her college scholarship.

Hopson pled guilty for failing to get help for 15 year-old Zach Munday, who died in May from a head injury sustained in a fight.
