Deer Attacks and Seriously Injures Woman

A Blount County woman has serious injuries after she was attacked by a deer. The TWRA says she was getting the mail outside her workplace on North Springview Drive when the deer approached her from behind. She says it knocked her to the ground and started to gore her with its antlers. Some bystanders jumped in to pull the deer off her. TWRA says they quickly found the deer and euthanized it. They say it was wearing an orange collar and unnaturally tame. They believe the animal was hand raised by humans. Wildlife officials say such “humanized” deer often become aggressive when rutting begins.
