An investigation into a plane crash at the Elizabethton Airport is underway.  A private plane carrying NASCAR broadcaster and former driver Dale Earnhardt Jr, along with his wife, child, and two pilots, crashed at the airport Thursday afternoon. Everyone on board is okay. NTSB investigator Ralph Hicks says they’ve already reviewed video of the crash take by nearby surveillance cameras.

The video shows the plane bouncing twice on the runway before coming down hard on the right landing gear, causing it collapse.  A cockpit voice recorder has been sent to Washington DC to be checked out. A preliminary report by the NTSB is expected in about a week. A preliminary report released today by the FAA says the “Aircraft experienced hard landing, bounced, departed runway, and caught fire.”
