TBI Investigating Officer Involved Shooting in Seymour

A man is dead after an officer involved shooting in Sevier County. Officers were serving a warrant on 42-year-old Norman Lowell Vandergriff Thursday night.

They found him in a vehicle on Happy Creek Road in Seymour. Officers tried to take him into custody, but say Vandergriff refused to comply. Officials with the TBI say he displayed a gun which is when deputies fired.

Vandergriff was pronounced dead on the scene. No law enforcement officers were injured. TBI is continuing to investigate.
