Witness: “Thought the Building had Exploded” After Truck Hits Salon

(WVLT) — Dispatch confirmed that at least five people were transported to an area hospital after a truck crashed into a Blount County nail salon on March 28 at around 3:30 p.m.

The salon, named Nails & Wax, is in a group of businesses on West Broadway Avenue

Marilyn Chappell, the owner of The Bridal Gallery, a business near the salon, said, “We thought the building had exploded.”

Officials were still on scene as of 4:45 p.m. but had left by around 6 p.m.

‘The tires spun for like five minutes,” Chappell said, “you could hear them.” Chappell said she was airing out her shop with a fan due to the smoke from the incident.

Another witness told WVLT News that the vehicle was a small Dodge truck and it went through the shop into the back.
