Officer Out of the Hospital After Friday Incident

A Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy is out of the hospital after an officer involved shooting.

It happened Friday after a chase ended on the Cedar Bluff Ramp to I-40. Deputy Harold Gibson was pinned between two cars during the incident.

Police say he opened fire on a robbery suspect. Gibson was treated for his injuries, now on administrative leave with pay while the situation is investigated.

The suspect and another person in the car were hit by the gunfire. Both are expected to recover. 38-year-old Robert Maples and 33-year-old Tasha Corn were booked on outstanding warrants.
