Governor Bill Lee is just two months into his administration with big plans for Tennessee. He’s headed to Knoxville Tuesday night for his State of East Tennessee address. The Governor covered his agenda in the State of the State Monday night.
Lee proposed a $71 Million pay raise for teachers and an investment in professional development. He also proposed a three year pilot program to help high school students in Tennessee’s 15 distressed counties.
The Governor plans to create 24 new positions to fight medicare fraud and keep the costs down. He wants $20 Million to expand broadband technology so communities without hospitals can have online access to doctors.
The Governor is seeking to reform the criminal justice system. Also in the budget is a record breaking deposit to the state’s saving account of $1.1 Billion.
Governor Lee will be at the Clarence Brown Theater on UT’s campus Tuesday night for his State of East Tennessee Address.
