Pigeon Forge teacher indicted; history of misconduct

A former teacher and coach at Pigeon Forge Middle School stands accused of offering to show a 13-year-old student sexually explicit photographs. Daniel Allen Turner was indicted by a Sevier County grand jury earlier this month and has since posted bond. Records say Turner approached a student in the cafeteria and began describing a sexual scenario. He offered to show her photos of that scenario and kept trying when the girl attempted to disengage. This is not the first time Turner has been accused of inappropriate conduct while on the job. He was fired from LaFollette Elementary School in 2017 for sexually harassing a substitute teacher, engaging in unsuitable interactions with students during gym classes and inappropriate use of the school’s internet. Despite these complaints, nothing appeared on his background check when he was hired at Pigeon Forge Middle School and he retained his teaching certificate.
