19-year-old struck and killed by car in Tazewell

Kayla Pace,19, was struck and killed by a car in Tazewell Thursday night. Pace used a motorized wheelchair and was attempting to cross State Highway 33 around 7:00 p.m. She crossed into the path of a vehicle and was hit. She was transported to Claiborne Medical Center and later pronounced dead. The investigation indicates it was dark outside and the driver of the vehicle did not have time to stop. Officials say Pace had been having problems with her wheelchair recently and had to be pushed out of the road by an officer on Tuesday.
