Jellico Man Shot and Killed by KY State Police

A Jellico man was shot and killed by Kentucky State Police. Troopers say 29-year-old Ronald Leach tried to assault an officer and that’s what led to the shooting.

It started early Monday morning with a call to a home in Whitley County. A disturbance call said Leach was threatening to harm his child. Officials say the trooper gained entry into the home and a physical altercation occurred.

Neither the trooper nor the child were injured. Police say the trooper fired after Leach tried to assault him with a weapon. They’ve not identified the trooper.
