WWE to Donate $100,000 to Knox County Charity

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon announced that the global entertainment conglomerate will donate $100,000 to the Knoxville Public Safety Foundation (KPSF). The foundation provides assistance and support to the City of Knoxville Fire Department, Knoxville Police, Knox County Sheriff’s Department and the University of Tennessee’s Police Department employees as well as their immediate families who’ve suffered a catastrophic injury, illness, death or other significant life-altering event. The donation is being made at the request of Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs in appreciation for making a series of appearances for WWE this fall.

“We’re happy to support this charity on behalf of Mayor Jacobs,” said McMahon. “Much like his unparalleled contributions to advancing the WWE brand during his stellar career of more than 20 years, Mayor Jacobs has begun work to improve Knox County. I appreciate his gesture to the heroes who selflessly put themselves in harm’s way and look forward to his continued progress in his mission.”

Grey Steed, President of KPSF’s board of directors is proud of what this donation will do for the local public safety community. “We appreciate this gift from Mayor Jacobs and Mr. McMahon and that they have law enforcement and the fire department top of mind,” he said. “The goal of the KPSF is to help those who help us and this donation will make a significant impact on our ability to help”

“I’m extremely proud that my career with WWE will have a positive impact on the community through my role as Knox County Mayor,” Jacobs added.

A check presentation will take place during the next WWE Live event to occur in Knoxville that is tentatively scheduled for January 2019.
