Hostage Situation Ends Without Injury

A hostage standoff in Knoxville ended without injury Friday morning. Just before midnight Thursday, officers responded to 1500 block of Moses Avenue with arrest warrants for 30-year-old Amari Beal.

A woman came to the door and refused to come out. As officers backed away she started screaming for help and that a man in the home wouldn’t let her or her 3-year-old son leave. Officials say Beal had barricaded the door.

Crisis negotiators were called and they made contact with the suspect. They say Beal would not let the two leave.

Officers made entry around 4:30 and Beal was arrested without incident. Beal’s warrants were for failure to appear, burglary, theft and more. Now, he’s been charged with two counts of False Imprisonment.
