Search for Drowning Victim on Douglas Lake

Search crews were back on Douglas Lake Thursday morning looking for a 24-year-old man who may have drowned. It happened in the Indian Creek area around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Witnesses on board the pontoon boat say the man swam out several feet and began to struggle prompting a passenger on the boat jump in and attempt to help. Unfortunately, his attempt was unsuccessful and the victim went under the water and never resurfaced.

Rescue crews from Jefferson, Sevier, Grainger, Hamblen and Cocke counties responded to aid in the search.

Officials are using a remote operated vehicle to help in the search.
