TWRA Searching for Boat that Hit Maryland Swimmer

TWRA agents and a Maryland family are asking for your help trying to find out who hit and killed a man with their boat.

55-year-old Michael Carnock went for a swim May 15th and never returned. After weeks of searching crews found his body Friday on the surface of the water, about a mile from where he was last seen.

Based on the injuries, investigators became concerned that the victim had been struck by a boat. Officials from both TWRA and LCSO requested an autopsy that was performed Saturday. The autopsy showed Carnock’s injuries were consistent with being struck by a vessel.

Family says Michael went for a swim on Tellico Lake in the area of Jackson Island on the morning of May 15 around 10 a.m. and never returned.

TWRA is asking anyone who was boating in the area and has any information about the incident to please contact the TWRA dispatcher at 1-800-831-1174.
