A Knoxville woman was arrested Saturday after she left her foster child in a hot car.
Police responded to the Kroger in Cedar Bluff just before 7:00 p.m. A woman walking by spotted the 9-month-old in the vehicle with the windows rolled up as temperatures soared to 90 degrees. Officers were able to get inside.
The child was red faced and sweating. It wasn’t for another 15 minutes that the foster mom came back out. 38-year-old Claire Huenefeld told officers she forgot the child was with her.
The infant was taken to Children’s Hospital. Huenefeld was arrested and charged with child endangerment.
