Crews continue to search the 6,700 acre densely covered southwest section of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park for a missing Blount County teen. 18-year-old Austin Bohanan was last seen hiking of trail over a week ago.
7 teams of 40 trained hikers were in the park searching for him over the weekend. Official say they are focusing on high priority areas like drainage spots and ridges within the search zone.
One of the teams crossed deeper into the backcountry camping off-trail to aid in the search.
Ground crews are still searching for the missing Blount County teen in the Smokies.
18-year-old Austin Bohanan was reported missing Sunday night. Officials say he was last seen hiking off-trail Friday night in a remote section in the southwest corner of the park off Highway 129.
Officials say between the TWRA and the Backcountry Unit Search Rescue team they have 19 people in the park searching for the teen.
Park rangers are searching the Smoky Mountains for a missing Blount County teen.
18-year-old Austin Bohanan was reported missing Sunday night. Rescue crews began searching for the teen the next morning, but have been unable to locate him.
Bohanan is believed to be in the Southwest portion of the park near Highway 129.
